XRC Playback Panel Emergency Stop / Servo on problem

    Evening all, first post on here so please be nice!

    We have purchased a SP100x motorman robot from an auction site as a way of testing an idea.. Anyway, having plugged it all in and put in jumpers across the external e stop and safety fence connections I still can't get the servo power to come on.

    When powered up the pendant displays 'Robot is stopped by P.Panel emergency stop'. I have tested the stop on the Playback panel but it is functioning correctly. When turned off and on again sometimes this message doesn't come on. A message suggesting the servo power should be pressed. However when the button is pressed the servo doesn't power on.

    I have done a full re-initialisation as i thought some previous user may have some extra I/O setup to hold the e-stop.

    Any suggestions would be ideal.

    I guess what I am trying to ask is if there is any reason for the Playback Panel emergency stop to be coming on even thought the physical button is not pressed and is functional as checked by a multimeter!

    The robot you bought comes in two versions, dual channel and non-dual channel (known as XRC 2001 and old XRC). Do you know what version you have?

    The reason I ask is the XRC 2001 has 8 wires on the e-stop and the old XRC only has 4, these wire go to different boards depending on the version. Please be very careful with the XRC 2001. The system e-stop (that gives you the message P.B. e-stop) has one wire that is +24 volts and one that is 0 volts. If you cross these up, you will blow up the board it plugs into.

    it appears that we have the XRC (old) controller. There are 4 wires to the playback panel e/stop.

    I have been turning it on and off and sometimes the P.Panel e/stop message comes up and other times it doesn't. Even when it doesn't it is not possible to power on the servo.

    The pseudo input #8216 (Inhit PP/Panel) is on but the manual suggests this is just a setup input for remote operation.

    Just to update. Problem solved.

    The previous user had wired the Playback panel and programming pendant emergency stop switches to an external plug and then back into the controlled. As the external sections are no longer present it wouldn't run. It seems a strange thing to do to me as there are devoted inputs for the external e/stop. Working well now though.
