Afternoon all,
First time posting here and certainly new to the Fanucs and any other robot other than my teach pendant class down in Charlotte with Fanuc.
Is the proper place to post newbie questions. I'll start with that question.
Thanks
Sid

Welcome to the forum!
Yes, you can post newbie questions, but you might be able to find your answers without writing a post.
First, you should consult your manual, most of the answers are in there. Second, use the search function on this forum, most likely your question has already been answered before. Third, look at the "sticky" threads at the top of the forum, lots of good info there.
If after that you still have a question, then go for it. Many people on the forum are happy to help.

Thank you sir. I'll start there then.

Hello all,
With regards to the Fanuc supplied roboguide CD I received in class, if I want to run a program that is currently on my production controller right now, how do I get that program into my PC that I am running roboguide on? Also, the grid matrix part that I am picking parts from with my robot, if I want to have this in Roboguide to use with my program for stepping through, do I need to model this in roboguide or can I import a 3d part into roboguide?
Thanks
Sid
I am assuming R30iB controller.
You can get the files from the robot controller using a flash drive and going to Menu>File then taking a backup, or if on the network using FTP. RoboGuide can use either the .ls or .tp version of the program. RoboGuide can import CAD files, the standard import file type is IGES.
I assume you have a manual? The manual will have all the details on what you can do in the File menu. For RoboGuide there is a help menu at the top and there is a help section specifically on importing CAD files.
Thank you a bunch Hawk. My apologies for not mentioning the controller type, and yes sir, it is the R-30iB. However, I do not believe we received a physical manual from the machine integrator. I will have to check that. Would it be a print manual or on a CD or web based?
Thank you for the help on the .igs file importing too.
Have a good night.
Sid
The manuals come on CD's.

What class did you take and where? I recently took a HandlingTool class in Michigan and a HandlingPro (a part of Roboguide) class in Oakland. The materials they provide had a lot of examples that you can follow.
If your robot is on an Ethernet network and the adaptor on the robot controller is set up correctly you can also use robot neighborhood to create a copy of a robot in the field with RoboGuide.
