Hi Everyone,
I have been troubleshooting this problem for almost a week. I have a Fanuc M-16iB/20. Every time it gets shutdown it takes almost 20 min before it boots into the OS. It goes into the pendant's bios right away. Then it just stays there. Finally after 20 min it will go into the OS. It looks like it having problems during the handshake. I've re seated everything. Thanks in advanced to everyone for their help.

That is very strange.
What controller version? R-30iA or whatever? Is there a number displayed on the Main Board's 7-segment display?
Maybe try plugging in a different Teach Pendant cable and different TP itself.
It is a longshot maybe, but I would be interested in knowing if that works. -
I have a R-J3iC. I took the pendant from another robot with the same board. Now both robots are taking 20min to boot up. Before I did the swap, only one robot had this issue.

That is definitely NOT what I was hoping for you.
Once you finally do boot up, try doing a Controlled Start (prev & next key start), which might take a very long time in your case, followed by a Cold Start (FCTN- Start (Cold))Maybe try it on just 1 of those robots though. This CTRT START followed by a Cold start should have the effect of taking care of any potential memory fragmentation. But I cannot say what is causing your problem, as I have never seen this before. Even TP firmware updates should not take that long.
Is it true that there is only a red dot on the Main Board's 7-seg display once the robot finally boots up?

I apologize, I’m pretty new to the Fanuc’s.
You wrote “Controlled Start (prev & next key start), which might take a very long time in your case, followed by a Cold Start (FCTN- Start (Cold))”.
When you say “start” are you referring to the cycle start button or the power? Thanks -
So I figured out how to get to the controlled start and cold start. I did this on both robots. It took about an hour each the first time I did the cold start. It helped the reboot time a little. It now takes 9min each to reboot. Thats better than 20 min. But prior to this issue, it only took about 1 min to reboot. I'm not sure what else it can be.

So we figured out the problem. If you leave a usb drive in the robot during reboots, it takes a lot longer. Sigh. Thanks for the help.

This is great to know.
Adding to USURP_RUR's good advice:
A faster way to Cold Start - power on while keeping the 'Fault Reset' button pressed. Sometimes it takes a few seconds, but it will indicate that it is a Cold Start briefly during the boot.
