We have 28 robots, mostly identical, with a few minor differences. some are from Europe and some are from America. They are all ArcMate 120iC 12L robots with R30iB controllers. One difference we have found which is causing us trouble is that they have a different E Stop board, with the Europe model having A05B-2601-C400 and the American model having A05B-2601-C412. For the sake of standardization, we need them to be the same, but Fanuc's tech support is telling me that they have a different part number so they can not be exchanged. I am waiting on a response telling me WHAT is different about them, but i was hoping someone here may have had some experience with what parts can be substituted and what can't. We intend to do a full image of the European robot and put it on the American robot, and since there was only the one electrical part difference, i am curious what would stop this substitution, if anything.

Without putting much thought on it, the first thing that comes to mind is Dual Channel and Single Channel safety
If I am correct :
Europe has been always ahead on this matters and the robots going to Europe (I know for sure Motoman and ABB) they had the dual channel years before North AmericaYou can not just change from single to dual . Some people take two wires from the single channel terminal and think they created a dual channel system. That's wrong and illegal
I think is fixable with 3rd party hardware, but I can see a lot money expending

Exactly, the whole safety system in the European version is Dual-Channel, IIRC also the processor for the safety is doubled.

Alright, that is what i needed to know! Thank you very much!
After thinking about it, wouldn't a dual-channel to single-channel difference show up with more part numbers different inside the controller cabinet? I have a full Bill Of Materials for both robots, and the E Stop board was the only significant electrical difference, unless the same part number can have variation globally. I would assume that if there was a change, then Europe would use a different part number for the different part, but i could be wrong.

The American R30iB has a dual channel safety circuit.
