Hi , the standard explanation of "To purge " , would be to "flush" ie , take a laxative and guess what you'll flush or purge.
examples of an automatic Air /gas Purge ,
**some welding torches have an extra threaded fitting for an air input , this is connected to an air solenoid which in turn can be controlled by the robot I/O . When the welding torch is filled with welding splatter etc. the system triggers the air solenoid and compressed air is blasted through the torch , hopefully purging the torch of all the accumulated splatter.
** Another is too "pre or post " purge the welding torch with shielding Gas so the weld base metal and/or hot mig welding wire are not exposed to the atmosphere in the Mig / Mag welding process.
Hope this helps. -
Your probably using a paint robot. The paint robots go through an air purge cycle to evacuate the internal chambers of the robot arm. This is what helps make your robot "explosion proof.
Servo power can NOT be applied until the robot has been purged.
The timers should NOT be adjusted as they are set by the factory to allow proper purge time.
