    Hello all,

A robot KUKA have lent me wants to be on holiday during the weekend, and this is not interesting for me...

I've received a technology package, and I've installed it copying the package into the D: drive and going to the robot menu to select install new technology.

After that I've restarted the computer.

Now the robot don't want to start.

The leds in front of the robot electrical cabinet are as follow:

At the beginning the green led (top left one) blinks slowly.
After a while the red led (down right one) gets on and the green led (top left one) blinks faster.

The KCP shows a red stripe at top and the three icons remain RED (man with seatbelt), YELLOW (IP) and RED (robot).

    What should I do?

Is there any option out there that would help me to restart that robot again?

As always thank you in advance.

Do you have a Kuka USB recovery stick?

Not at all Eusty, I've got two things:

    1. a workvisual Project (which I don't know if it can help or not).
    2. I could get Access to the D drive after cancelling the menú that appears on the kcp at the beginning... In the D Drive I have:
    a) two folders with cryptic and long names.
    b) InitialProject (Folder)
    c) KRC_Release (Folder)
    d) Kuka_OPT(Folder)
    e) WorkVisual (Folder)

Could I get something positive from any of those sources?

    Thank you in advance!

    mmm...

I'm not sure if you can boot into Windows only (before KSS starts) on a KRC4 like you could on older controllers :motz:

The problem is that both the SmartPad and DVI port connect via RDC so it could be tricky. That's the value of the USB recovery, they are worth their weight in gold, stick the USB in and it will restore.....it's not much use to you now, but worth remembering in the future.

If Kuka lent you the robot have they got an image of that controller and a recovery USB they could let you have?

I would try disconnecting the SmartPad and booting with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse plugged directly into the cabinet. That should let you see the actual Windows startup sequence happening on the cabinet. That might provide some fresh clues.

Unfortunately, without a good clone Image and a USB recovery stick, I'm not certain how much can be accomplished to recover this robot, short of re-installing KSS. Which... argh, would require the USB recovery stick. I'm REALLY starting to dislike this limitation on KRC4s....

Thank you eusty and skyefire for your comments, it's a pity they've not thought on putting an internal method to recover the robot to it's Factory settings reinstalling the KSS automatically from the hdd...

This should never happen under any circumstance.

    problem !
I don't know if we put the the contents of usb recovry in a normal usb can it work or not
In anyways , nothing to loose , I just upload usb recovry (without c and d ) , so try to use it with normal usb to recover your krc4

Nope you need a Kuka USB recovery stick, a 'nomal' one won't work......that's why they charge about £200 for an 8GB USB stick!! That said, it's worth buying one
