i want that too, is there a way to do it?
Remote Virtual Pendant will allow you to access the KRC as you would using the SmartTab, but on a PC.
But (like most Kuka options) there is a cost to it. I think it was about £900, but you can install it on any laptop and connect to any KRC on the same network.

as I'm reading it - it's just a "simple" HMI for reading and writing simple variables, right?
Just use any HMI and connect i/o's to robot - Group in-/output your variables - and you're able to read your numbers on the simple HMI - and write simple changes to the robot...
the limit on that one, is your imagination...
If you want the full packet (creating programs etc. etc. etc.) - it's costly...
As Lasse said, variables and signals can be transferred across any compatible FieldBus to any of hundreds of different standard industrial HMIs. What hardware you need depends upon what HMI and what FieldBus you choose.
If, however, you want to make the HMI of the robot available remotely, that is a very different matter.
