I have been having problems in my plant for the past five years. I don't know exactly which piece of equipment is causing the problem or how to resolve it. I have had issues where my robot will be welding and something happens and the power will not turn off. We can E-stop the cell and robot, this doesn't stop it. We end up having to shut the power off for the power supply. We have even seen this issue happen while the nozzle is in the tip cleaner. There are no welding instructions in our tip clean program. We encounter this problem across 175 robots around 25 times over a 5 year period. These are different machines built by different integrators. Robot and power supply are all common. I'm not sure that this is a robot problem. I have spoke with Fronius. They are suggesting that I need a managed switch in between the robot and power supply. It was said that we are running an unmanaged switch and there is the possibility of the robot getting an arc start signal from another robotic on the network with a different IP address.
Has anybody seen this problem with the same configuration? Has anybody seen this problem with a Fanuc, Kuka, other? Any suggestions? I have very basic networking knowledge, I'm doubting the managed switch.
