What key considerations and software functionalities should be prioritized when integrating a vision camera system with an ABB robot, particularly focusing on a 20kg payload, for an upcoming assembly project? I haven't worked on ABB robot with vision camera. :help:

I have a couple of questions... Is this a used robot or new? Does it already have the integrated vision option as part of it's system? I can tell you first hand that integrating cognex vision camera's with ABB (with the option installed) is a lot easier than you think. The basic options are available through RobotStudio, but you can always modify an excel spreadsheet and import it for more complex programming.

Do you have the ABB IntegratedVision option installed on the robot? That makes things simpler.

If you don't, then it's a matter of establishing communication between the Cognex and the ABB, which isn't too hard, but depends a great deal on your options -- Ethernet/IP vs ProfiNet vs Socket Comms, what data you want to transfer, etc.

Thanks For Reply. project is finalized and we are about to order robot does the integrated vision system helpful for identify the similar but different size of parts and take program offset accordingly ??

The software is very intuitive and helpful. It will make ease of programming to be honest. I found it extremely helpful (worth the money). Best of luck!

The Integrated Vision option doesn't make the Cognex any better or worse at performing vision operations. What it does do is make communicating between the Cognex and the robot much easier -- the IV option adds software and hardware to the robot to simplify the integration, and also adds software to the Cognex to complete the package. In fact, I believe if you buy your ABB with Integrated Vision, you need to order the Cognex as part of the package, and you will receive the entire setup from ABB in a single package.
