Hey guys, I work for a robotics startup, and we need to figure out a way for our robot to automatically dock at a recharging station when its battery level drops below a certain threshold. After considering a few possibilities, we believe using IR sensors like Kobuki might be the best approach. We've ruled out using Aruco markers due to limited processing power; our onboard computer is a Raspberry Pi 3. Additionally, we don't have any sensors on the back of the robot, and management has decided against adding them.
So, I'm here to ask for your input. Does it make sense to have a docking station equipped with IR sensors for the robot to localize itself? Is there a better option we should consider? It's worth mentioning that we have a differential-drive robot, which somewhat limits our movement options. Btw, if anyone knows any code that is already made for this, it would help very much.
Any help or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
