Nevermind, it may take more work software wise then installing one of these:

    light curtain

Need to figure out how to attach to back of my robot?

...where are the safety inputs? Does this robot even have safety-qualified inputs? Based on my experiences with Chinese machinery "safety" practices, I would be unsurprised (appalled, but not surprised) if it didn't have any. If so, I wouldn't go near this thing without wearing a bomb-disposal suit.

Remember, regular I/O signals are not safety-qualified. They don't have the reliability, the reaction speed, the dual-channel setup, or a sufficiently Safe means of disabling the robot.

If your light curtain was wired to a Safety-qualified relay that killed the 120VAC power to the robot, that might work. Recovery might be ugly, though.

This is from an american robot company based in San Francisco, Precise Automation was purchased by Brooks. At the moment they are my favorite robot manufacturer, their robots are especially engineered for electronic manufacturing/life sciences industry, unfortunately they cost $25-35k and are never found used (5x price of epson scara). This model I acquired is the first predecessor to their preciseflex cobot line (they only make cobots now using technology from this model). It has mtbf of 140,000 hours. The only thing I don't like is the robots are heavy 25kg but have all the safety protocols.

The version I got is 3 axis with payload of 5kg, i'm trying to use it with 5-10g. One thing I like about them is controllers are built into robot and use tcp/ip protocol so doesn't need custom software. My passion is for lightweight precise robots under 10 lbs. Currently I am the only one working around this but still want to be safe. Planning to run robot extra slow until I figure out a proper guarding system.
