how do i change this? i successfully set 2 other axis but cant do anything further with this error

Assuming you mean you can’t get the S-axis to the alignment mark.
Go to ROBOT, LIMIT RELEASE. Select on Soft Limit Release to change to VALID. You should be able to jog then.
Generally, batteries are attached to the multi-port connector so you don’t have to recalibrate. Since the robot hasn’t been altered mechanically.
95 devils, i was able to get it to work by putting 180000 in the abso data. That way i was able to move to the tick mark. The problem with the battery backup was none of those numbers were correct. I used them the first time and the robot had no clue where it was. So, i had to reteach all of the home marks.
I doubt you would do this, but i have no one to ask questions about robots. Sometimes i wait literally all day to have you answer one of my questions. Would you be interested in taking my phone number?
Unfortunately, having a phone number isn't going to get help from me any sooner. I do not work a desk job where I can monitor the site every few minutes. I check in the morning before work, possibly during a break, lunch, and after work.
Depending on what country you are in Yaskawa support could have answered all these questions much sooner. I know support in the US is pretty darn good and available by phone 24-7.
