Hello,
we have one RX160 robot with no CS8C controller. Is there a proven way to build an effective alternative? Any experience out there?
Thank you very much

Hi,
I hope you are doing well today,
I'm afraid that would be very difficult.
I know for a fact that Staubli doesn't sell the controller as a stand-alone.
Also, each controller and robot arm have the same serial number, I know it's possible to swap it to some degree but highly not recommended.
Also, the CS8 controller's OS is a version of VxWorks, don't know exactly where would you find something to be compatible...
Thanks Esgalho,
I understand and I suspected that. At this point I am wondering if there is any occurrence of someone having built a custom controller with sourced parts?
You could always look on "eBay" for a controller.
To be fair, the CS8 controller is being discontinued.
Just make sure the controller is compatible with the robot.
I understand correctly that compatibility of each CS8C controller is only for one robot model es TX60 ecc
Hello cl_dev,
As far as I can recall, TX40 and TX60 use the exact same controller, TX90 has bigger amplifiers, RX160 has also a bigger power supply.
B&R used to make controllers for some TX/RX robots too. Maybe you can search in that direction as well.
