Welcome to the forum.........
Unfortunately, that is not possible.
The password is generic to all Controllers and just forms part of the initial handshaking.
No password is required if connection is made via RS232
Having the Controller 'open' to a campus network, begs the question of Controller safety foremost and also could introduce many problems if 'anyone' can use/access it.
I am using the bundle e71 +r5005l for my thesis and I was asked if it is possible to add the controller in my campus network. Thus i wanted to add a password, i thought that if it is possible to have a username "login name: <as> " that password was an option too. Now we should reconsider this option. Furthermore the controller is ON only if i am present to the area. I should discuss it with my supervisor.
Thank you very much for the response.
I am glad seeing fora like this existing. You will definitely hear me screaming for help in the near future
Yes, you can add Controller to network via Ethernet no problem.
- But as login password is not 'locally' controlled, and multiple sessions can be achieved - I think at least 3 simultaneous sessions via Ethernet.
- Only one session by RS232.
As KRTerm is a 'CLI' application, then any session is 'live' and if more than 1 session try to access memory pointers (same programs, same variable) at same time, will cause conflict and possible communication freeze.
- So recommended to restrict to 1 session only -1 person using robot at one time.
So yes, I would discuss with supervisor as in Repeat Mode, you could be programming/modifying whilst someone else is executing motion commands at same time - So a 'Safety' concern is there.
