Hello everyone,
I am working on integrating ROS and ABB robot IRB1410 which is controlled using irc5 compact controller. I navigated to ABB -> Control Panel -> Configuration -> Topics -> Controller -> Task in IRC5 controller but the option to add new task is blacked out and I am unable to add any new task. Multitasking is not possible but I really need it. Can someone help me how to enable Multitasking and PC interface options in the existing system or create a new system with the mentioned options. I am working on real robot and NOT on simulation.
I would be really be really grateful if someone could guide me how to add multitasking option in IRC5 controller.
How to add multitasking option in ABB irc5 controller for IRB1410 robot

If the robot doesn't have multi tasking ask ABB if you can purchase that option (I'm not ABB expert, but I know that you can buy additional options for FANUC).
I'm pretty sure that you cannot "unlock" it yourself.
Maybe there is a go around for your problem describe your problem maybe we could help ? Maybe you can create a "trap" for what you need

If You really need multitasking You have to purchase the option for your system. Contact your ABB dealer. You will get a new keystring for creating a new system with robotstudion for your robot.

Thanks for the reply. Now I got it. First I thought that I could manually add the option. I have to contact the ABB sales team to buy the same

Hi Manoj,
- Go to Controller Tab, Right click your Robot Controller
- Select Change Options
- Search for "623-1 Multitasking"
- Restart Controller
- Then, Try Control Panel -> Configuration -> Topics -> Controller -> Task
P.S: I know its an old post just came across this today

Let the dead rest.
He had a real robot, your method only works in Robotstudio.
