I've been having some issues regarding Profibus communication to a Schunk Rotary Unit (mostly hardware questions), and would like to address them. Firstly, I understand that the Sunrise cabinet communicates through EtherCAT protocol, and because of this, I am wondering if there needs to be some sort of EtherCAT to Profibus conversion interface between the robot flange and the Rotary Unit, or if the cabinet has a Profinet bus available (the documentation is a little confusing on this). A second question involves the I/O configuration; is the I/O type (UINT, BOOL, BYTE, etc.) the only relevant information to I/O or is the name (i.e. FSoE-Drive Out.Enable SCD 1) also necessary to configuration? I am also wondering if both signals of the same type (i.e. FSoE-Drive Out.Enable SCD 1 and FSoE-Drive Out.Enable SCD 2) need to be configured in order for communication to work. We are still ordering cables and parts for the robot, and I will update when I get more information on this.
