Is there a way I can take the file that houses all of the names/descriptions for the I/O and edit them on my computer and then reload them back in? I do not have a version of roboguide that will work with the newer 8.3 software. I'm just wondering if there is an easier way to edit all of the I/O descriptions rather then on the teach pendant.
Fanuc I/O config ??

Try to get the update from Fanuc.
Also you may be able to upload the DIOCFGSV.IO file in another version of software and edit it. Did you try? -
What program can use to open just that file?

Roboguide

You can connect to robot controller via ethernet and use comment tool from your web browser for commenting all I/Os

Hello,
Yes there is a separate way to import a program and load in the IO descriptions with it as well. The Ascii Program Loader will allow to ether export a program in Ascii, edit it, then load it back into the robot. Also along with that you can edit names of registers and PRs and IO names. It works fairly well but the down side is when you load the program back into the robot. If any of the indexes that you are referring to are being used somewhere else in the the robot (Meaning if a Register PR or IO bit is used in a different program) then the changes will not override the existing. I just did this exact thing. (We also order the Ascii Option on every robot company wide also) I started a project, new robot and I knew roughly the io I wanted to use and so I created a HOME io program put in the Digital ins and outs generically turning the DO=OFF and a R=DI entered in all my descriptions. Then Loaded the program back into the robot and just like that didn't have to painstakingly enter in descriptions.

Also, a Helpful tip if you didnt know, the 8.20v and up, you can plug a USB keyboard into the TP and it works. So when you select to type, go to options(f5)-Keyboard it pulls up the virtual touch screen keyboard but if you have your USB plugged in then you can go ahead a type away!!
