Everything that was in SRAM.
The core software will remain as it is stored in FROM.
So basically anything that was added after the software was loaded. All TP and Karel programs, any settings that were changed, all I/O configurations, and mastering. -
To restore this situation (after putting in a good battery of course), do I need to restore an image of the controller or is an all of above enough?
How about the battery, is it preloaded when you put a new one in : if you put a new one in, you cut power of the controller, will the battery be effective immediately, or does it need charging some hours with power on of the controller?
If you start with a good condition of the battery, how long may the controller be switched of before it becomes critical for the battery? -
is it the controller bat or the encoder bat pack
-
It is the controller battery

in the case of a cpu battery, I'm not sure how long it will last in a powered off state. but for the d-cell encoder battery pack we change these
out once a year. with power on and robot in zero position. for the cpu battery , I have not needed to change one out yet but you will need to
restore a good image. that being said you should backup your controller every 6 months or annually . hope this helps. -
Joe after reading your post about not having a backup for your P200 you should read this.
Backup your system initially, both an image and all files back up. Make another backup every time a change is made.
If no changes are made, back up your system every 3 months.
Store all of your backups on a server, one that is maintained by the IT group and is safe and secure.
Save a copy of all of your backups on a laptop also for convenience.
Categorize your backups by date and include notes indicating what changes were made.
Keep all of your system software ( the robots original software from the manufacturer) in a safe place. If you are using Karel, make sure you have those programs as well because they are not saved with an all files backup.
As for the controller battery, a restore of an image backup and then an all files back up will get you back to operation.
The Fanuc manual states that with the power off you have 2 minutes to change the controller battery. This is FALSE!
Swap the battery with the controller power ON!
I replace all of the robot batteries once a year to be sure I don't run into problems like this!

You say after the battery was off, you need to restore an image backup and an all files backup. Why is an image backup not enough?
If I do this, could I expect problems with the mastering of the axes? Do I need to do a certain procedure for the mastering after putting back a backup? -
I don't know. I have had to do this before and after the image was restored there was still some items that were not 100%.
