  • R-30IB "The Program Does Not Exist" Message in iRProgrammer

    • ekumar
    • December 6, 2023 at 12:18 AM

    Hi all,

I had a saved program on our R-30iB controller which was operating a SCARA SR-3ia. After power cycling the controller I open up iRProgrammer, and in Editor window we get an error message that the program does not exist and to click OK. After clicking OK the window pops back up after 1-2 seconds. This keeps happening.

I was able to click Program quick enough to try to load the program I had saved. The program is listed but I can't click the OK button to hold. The OK button is highlighted in blue but clicking it doesn't do anything.

    Any help?

In europe there is no default ip address.

you have to setup with host comm menu, detail, use the PORT button to switch.

Thank you! So if I configure an IP address for CD38B I'll be able to access the Robot Homepage from that IP Address?

    These are two ports!

And they have to be in different subnet!

    e.g:

    192.168.18.1

    192.168.25.1

That makes sense. Do you know what CD38B's default IP address is?

    Hello,

On our FANUC Robot Controller (R-30iB Compact Plus) we want to have two local connections to the robot. One connection to CD38A and another to CD38B. Does those both connect to the same interface? So if I have an IP address configured for the Robot Homepage I can access that same IP from both CD38A and CD38B or do I need to configure a new IP address for CD38B to access the Robot Homepage from that port?

    Thank you!

  • Transit Case: SCARA SR-3iA

    • October 29, 2023 at 10:05 PM

    Hello,

I am looking to buy a transit case for my SCARA SR-3ia. This is so I can safely transport it for a few on-site demonstrations. Does anyone have a recommended off-the-shelf hard transit case that works well? The case doesn't need to be lined with foam as I could line it with packing foam myself.

Here are a few options I've explore:

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-Tough-Chest-38-in-W-63-Gal-Polypropylene-Rolling-Tool-Box-DWST38000/205502769#overlay

https://www.homedepot.com/p/22-3-in-W-x-…0F-BK/303725281 (unsure if this will fit the robot)

I've also looked at non Home Depot location but am getting similar results. Thank you!

    Hi everyone,

How can I write and execute tasks on a FANUC OPCA UA Server remotely via UA Expert?

I have written a program for a FANUC Robot (SR-3iA) in the iR-Programmer interface. Now that I have the program I would like to execute and possibly modify it via UA Expert. UA Expert is connected to the OPC UA server running on the Robot Controller. Currently, I can read data from the OPC Server via UA Expert, including the name of the new program I have written.

What I suspect is part of the issue is that I need to establish the server connection as a user with the proper permissions and right now the connection is anonymous. When I first establish the connection however, I do not have an option to select a secure connection or to provide a username/password.

How can I create users and configure permissions?

How do I create methods that can be exposed via OPC UA Server? As shown here: https://documentation.unified-automation.com/uaexpert/1.6.0/html/methodcall.html#:~:text=UaExpert%3A%20Method%20Plugin&text=This%20plug%2Din%20allows%20to,open%20the%20Method%20call%20dialog.

Thank you very much for all the help!

Since it is for demonstration, I probably wouldn't bother with a clamp. Just size the J4 hole so that it is a very light press fit. Friction would keep it in place.

If you wanted to be fancy, you could do a clearance hole for J4, and then a hole from the side, and clamp to the flat on J4 with a cap screw.

Thank you! When you say "size the j4 hole" do you mean the 20 mm diameter hold (referencing the attachment in my previous post). I understand conceptually what you're saying but trying visualize it all together. Thank you so much for the patience!

Measure the diameter of the ball screw on J4, then revolve a profile around an axis with that as the size for a hole in the middle, save as .3mf or .stl, and print it.

If I used the attached specs I got from FANUC. You're saying create a removable clamp into the 18mm diameter that can fit around the 20mm diameter. A hole in the middle can then be used to put a vial (separate attachment) to what is 3D printed.

Sorry, I want to make sure I go through this process correctly.

Hello FANUC Forum, I'm here again with another new person question. I am interested in 3D printing End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) for the SCARA SR-3iA robot I have. Are there recommended sites or repositories of drawings I could use to 3D print parts?

I want to setup a simulated dispensary operation. Here is a video link of inspiration:

    Hello,

A new FANUC programmer here. I am interested in writing a program for the SCARA SR-3iA robot to run through a fake dispensary operation. Here is a video example of what I will be drawing from:

Is there a recommended program template or starting point I can pull from? As a new programmer it would be helpful to pull from example program for the SCARA SR-3iA and I can make the necessary customizations from there.

It looks like they just machined a chunk of aluminum, dropped in a plastic syringe, and bolted or clamped it the J4 ball screw.

Honestly you could get away with a 3d printed version.

We decided to do a fake dispensing path as our initial demo and then see if we want to graduate to a drilling demonstration. Do you know of any 3D printable files that we could leverage?

Thank you. That makes sense. In that video is that a vile connected directly to the spindle? What EOAT would be required for that video?

Fake dispensing path is probably the easiest to setup.

Followed by a simple looping pick and place path.

End of arm tooling is pretty much entirely custom designed to fit the application. Common suppliers for components of the grippers are Schunk, Destaco, McMaster-Carr, Mitsumi.

One major thing I would recommend is to implement safeties first. Enclose the robot with fencing or a lightscreen, and implement safety rated relays or switches to interlock the guarding.

Thank you! We have a plexiglass enclosure for the robot. Will take a look at those gripper suppliers.

Do you know of an example (video?) of a fake dispensing path?

I think that the simplest program would be a pick and place using basic square blocks. Just have the robot pick up a block, set it somewhere else, then pick it up again and set it back at the start. Once you are more comfortable with programming you can make the program more complex if you like.

As far as end of arm tooling, after you've determined what kind of demonstration you want to do, you could consult with a local tooling shop to help with the EOAT.

Thank you very much for the response. Is there a type of EOAT you would recommend? Mechanical grabber, suction cup, or another? I've reached out to EMI Corp for ideas.

    Hello,

I'm new to the FANUC/robot world and have appreciated the help from this forum. Folks recently helped me resolve an issue to access iRProgrammer which ended up having the most simple solution.

I have a question: I want to give a simple but realistic demo with a FANUC SCARA SR-3iA robot my company has. We would need to procure end-of-arm tooling and build the code for demonstration. Any help would be much appreciated.

Background: We are a cybersecurity company and working on a demonstration to integrate our product with a typical manufacturing / OT operation. We are using the FANUC SCARA SR-3iA robot, which we have in our office. We are not building out a manufacturing line. We have seen recommended demonstrations around hole drilling and pick and place. We are quick learners but aren't experts in FANUC robots. To date we have successfully built a base and plexiglass shield and have powered on and jogged the robot.

Here are the questions I have for the SCARA SR-3iA robot:

-Any recommended easy to setup demonstrations using this robot?

-Where can I buy end-of-arm tooling?

    -Any other general recommendations?

Hi all, I called support and we got this resolved. We set the MASTER_COUN variables to what it says in the inspection sheet. Great to see the robot moving (again)!

The fix was simple. It was in a controlled start and it needed to be switched to a cold start.

I was able to job but now I'm getting an MOTN-049 Attempt to move w/o calibrated. Any idea how this could happen?
