I want to simulate group input from a KAREL or TP program, so I can't simply set the port to 'simulated' and change the values manually. For digital ports I know a workaround is to configure the DI to a flag, which allows you to set the DI by writing to the flag. For group inputs, however, this would mean I'd have to change 16 flag values (in the case of a 16 bit GI) and do the binary conversion myself to know which flags to turn on and off. Any ideas on how to write to GI from KAREL or TP instead?

You could configure it to the internal memory port, rack 0, slot 0. Then configure a GO of the same size to the same rack/slot/start. Then you can control it with the GO.
