We are trying to weld small (1"x1"x1") blocks onto the outside of a cylinder and we are having trouble getting perfectly consistent placement with our fixturing. It just requires 4 fillet welds but they are subject to pressure and welding a flat block onto a round surface 2 of the 4 fillets have 1/8" gaps to fill. We have TAST and touch but don't currently use them, does this sound like a good application to try TAST? We are currently making up for our lack of accuracy by overwelding like crazy and it's causing it's own set of problems with warping the cylinder. Is TAST worthwhile on short 1-2" welds and can you make it turn a 90 degree corner while tracking the seam? Because it's pressurized we try to do as many continuous welds as possible.
Thanks
