the original battery pack was 7.2V
can i use rechargeable battery pack with full charge 8.2 v max in smb board inside robot irb140 ?

the "blue" battery pack isn't rechargeable, rechargeable cells has old "black" 11,5V battery pack

There are (2) rechargeable NiCad battery packs that are 7.2V made up of (6) D-cell batteries in series. They have thermal and reverse current protection and the one used with paint robots also has current limiting. The charging circuit on the SMB for these is optimized for these NiCad battery packs and may not properly charge a different battery pack. You did not mention if the 8.2V battery was NiCad or Li-ion.
Newer and replacement serial measurement units use a smaller (2) cell 7.2V Lithium battery pack that does not recharge. The very low current consumption of these newer SMU allows these batteries to last 4-6+ years (recommended change is 3 years) with normal use.
What's the part # of the SMB?

battery pack is niMH - 1.2v x6 cell

The 3HAC9522-1 SMU has a charging system designed specifically for the 7.2V 6-cell NiCd pack. It charges at a higher rate and then drops to a lower rate to maintain the charge but not over charge. Not sure the charge rates will match the requirements needed to charge & maintain the NiMH pack. If the maintenance charge is inadequate to keep the NiMH pack charged and you don't cycle power for a few months, you may end up with a low battery anyways. This is what happened with early SMBs and led to an ABB recall of the SMBs in the mid-90s to install the 200mA updates to the effected SMBs. Also note that while NiMH outperforms NiCd in many ways, the NiCd will probably last longer at the low discharge rate that the SMU uses to maintain memory. Something else to think about if you plan on having the controller off for an extended period.
If costs are the issue, there are aftermarket batteries sold that are somewhat cheaper than the 4944026-4. Make sure any aftermarket batteries use quality batteries and you should get many years of service.
