I am searching for a solution for finding a tooth of the gear with a robot. The robot needs know the position of the gear in order to perform its task. I was thinking that would integrated vision be suitable for this kind of application? Does anyone have any experience? Or would there be another good ways to go?

the answer to you question dipendes on you skills.
The ABB integrated vision is good as far as you want to keep the things easy for you and your final customer. The limit is that when the vision programm that you need for you task gets complex, the integrated vision becomes too complex and limited.
In this case, if you are skilled enough to create a comunication protocol with an external sistem, that could any including Cognex (the produced of ABB cameras), this is the best way.Please let me know if I can help you in any other way.
