We have 4 new IRC5 controllers with RobotWare 6.03 installed with option 616-1 PC Interface installed. After linking them with the ABB OPC Server, the only signal that I can access from the controllers is "InterfaceState" with a value of "2". From the help manual, a "2" means that the robot controller does not have the PC Interface option installed. I have verified that PC Interface is listed under the installed options but I'm still having trouble accessing all of the data items through ABB OPC server. We are trying to get them talking to a GUI interface. I noticed that the tasks are different from our other robots running older RobotWare. Our new controllers are running T_ROB1 and cmdtask, with the older ones running T_ROB1, guisock, pnttask, tpusock and wdtask. Any ideas on why we cannot access these signals via ABB OPC? Is there a different version of PC Interface that is required for the new RobotWare? We are not very familiar with RobotWare 6 and up.

Welcome to robot forum!
What options are installed in your robots ? Sounds like you might have a extra option that most don't have. What kind of gui are you communicating with? Do you have the ftp option installed? What do new robots have in their internal files? Is the Guisock and pnttask in your older robots internal file ? If so whats located in the new robots internal file ?

Hey Underdog, sorry for the late response.
We are interfacing with GE Cimplicity. Options Installed: 641-1 Dispense, PaintWare, Fieldbus Command Protocol, 616-1 PC Interface, 841-1 EtherNet/IP Scanner/Adpater, 614-1 FTP and NFS client, and 623-1 Multitasking are the main ones.
Finally got it talking to an older version of ABB OPC 5.61 first and then a newer 6.02 version. So we are good now on the OPC communication. Now the trouble we are having is that the variables that we are trying to access in the RAPID tasks are not there, such as Guisock and Pnttask. The older robots have these in the Internal files under pntrapid and the newer ones do not have these tasks and sys modules. I think that it has something to do with the paintware package being different between the old ones and the new ones. The older ones have PaintWare medium package and the new ones just say PaintWare. -
Have you found out anything new about the RW6.03 and getting it working similair to what was in RW5.x? We're doing the exact same application and have seen the same issues. One of note is the robot giving "write access" to the plc, same as the message when a pc logs on with robotstudio, strange. Have you noticed whether the "subsribe" command is functionally in RW6.x?
Literally it sounds as if your running one of our robots with the same options. Your experiences could be very helpful. We're about to call ABB because the software is so different, yet the same.
