Hello everyone!
Does anyone here have any experience using MxAutomation with Allen Bradley ControLogix PLCs? (positive or negative)
I've been asked to investigate this option as a way to make our product more "accepted" at sites where PLC familiarity and knowledge is more widespread than robotics. The glossy brochures seem to indicate this option was built for that exact reason, but I wonder if there are any pitfalls or gotchas? It also seems to be a fairly new (< 2years?) and I don't see many discussions about it on any forums which makes me a bit weary.
I've received the Logix Library manual and PLC template file with the Kuka AOI's and had a look through these - it seems quite comprehensive but I don't yet have a feeling on how complex it will be to assemble a set of motion movements - there's not really a good example in the manuals. Anyone willing to share a sample of their application?
Our application is not yet developed but will be a materials handling exercise comprising:
- KR 1000 Titan on external 7th Axis
- machine vision to locate a regions of interest in 3D space.
Also, can anyone post their typical application sizes (PLC User memory requirements) - this would help with PLC hardware selection down the track.
