Hi guys, Having a bit of an issue with servo gun tip dressers, Does anyone know how this might be occurring?
The fixed tip is cutting down unevenly and eventually collapsing.
Any clues? Have tried altering pressures tip dress time etc
Cheers

Has the teaching changed at all? I remember it being a real bear to get the teaching right if someone changed it and got the angles all screwed up.
Well it has been adjusted slightly yes but it doesn't explain the fixed tip wearing down so much more.
You could also check the blades to make sure they are clean and aren't damaged; and make sure the dresser is bolted down properly. It could be that the dresser has broken free and is leaning into the fixed tip when you close the gun- I've seen that happen before and it caused the fixed tip to be mangled.
I also once saw a situation where the fixed tip approach point was taught too close to the dresser, so it was being caught by the blade and pulled in even before the gun squeeze. That was taking several mm's too much off the fixed tip and barely shaving any off the moveable tip.
Its entirely possible that the type of dresser you have is completely different from anything we had in the plant I worked at too.
When you say the tips are collapsing, what do you mean exactly? Are they blowing out while welding?
