Hi,
My customer is complaining because they have bought a MSR-1005 with 5 second index (180 degree move) time - this is too slow. What can be done to improve this? This is a DX100 controller, operating a ARCworld3 weld system.

short answer, nothing. These positioners are geared and setup for the acceleration and deceleration of the mass. If you start changing things you will destroy motors, gearboxes, amplifier...
Motoman came onsite changed the MAX motor RPM to match the motor nameplate. Our 5.0 second index is now about 3.6 seconds. DOC is correct, this could cause failure, however, our particular case is that PAYLOAD isn't at a maximum. The motoman tech "validated" our load by running about an hour of flip-flop indexes - to heat up the motor. The temperature was stable, and that was all I believe he checked.
Is there a way to verify the amplifier isnt saturating during an emergency stop? Oscilloscope? Hook up a Kuka to it??????
