Hello everyone.
We are going to be starting a project soon with more than one robot per linear track unit. They are 8m linear tracks. KRC4 R3100 Ultras. We are adding another robot + robot base to each track. I have not been in contact with KUKA yet, they are a little slow in answering emails lately.
What I'm wondering is: Does KUKA have some sort of software package for linear position tracking (collision avoidance) or some such thing? I've seen videos of 5+ robot gantries doing aluminum arc welding (at KUKA College) so I know they have implemented something before for this application.
If I'm left to my own devices, writing a program for position tracking would be fairly easy.
Would my best bet be to pass positional data back and forth between each robot (I'm thinking ethernet)? The robots are already on a DeviceNET main line network but the dnet networks are already pretty loaded with safety blocks and I'm worried about packet timing..
Has anyone had experience with this application before?
