The CNC G-code is made with a post processor - for the "special" machine
I was recently involved in some oooooooold (like VERY old) Fanuc code, that had to be translated / reversed into DXF - some of the axis were "swapped" and absolutely useless when it came to "using as points"
There's a load of Ninja software outthere that'll convert a drawing into points / usable points...
right now - as in - as i write - I'm making the final touches on two different lasers (sheet metal) - the same file (dxf) creates 2 different NC codes due to the different post processor...
If you are a Yoda in your current G code / NC code - you could use it for "something" - and it would be a fun project to do...
To translate the programmed path from a CAM system to the robot you will need:
1. CAM software to import the detail and to make the cutting/milling paths
2. Postprocessor for your CAM - to export the code
3. Visualisation software to check out the code, singularities, collisions etc
You can check Sprutcam - it is all in one
There is also Robotmaster (needs Mastercam), Powermill robot interface (needs Powermill), Eureka (independent), IRBcam etc but they are much more expensive...
