Hello,
I have PCMCIA slots on the Fanuc System R-J3iB Robot Controllers. I was wondering if there is an adapter card or device that would allow me to make my backups to a USB drive. I also have some newer R-30iA controllers that allow backing up directly to thumb drives. I see many adapters advertised on the Web but do not know the one that would be best for Fanuc Robots (if this would even work?). Any information and your thoughts would be appreciated.https://www.robot-forum.com/robotforum/Smi…um/shield11.gif

Do you have the compact flash to PCMCIA adapter card? The older RJ2 robots used a card that was physically identical in the PCMCIA part, but works completely different. I unplug the compact flash card out of my adapter and plug it into a universal media reader that I bought at 'BestBuy' for about $30. It is a Dynex brand and was located in the camera section...as you might recall , cameras used compact flash cards for storage. This will easily get you to USB and will permit storage of your controller images on a PC. This is only usable for rj3 and newer. Rj2 used a SRAM card and requires a special reader to get to USB.

Kodak has one called the 5-in-1 card reader, it costs about 15 bucks at radio shack.
