I worked on a python code to intake g code and output Kuka code. As SkyeFire mentions, python can change over the movements well, but there are other sections of the SRC and DAT files which the Kuka robot is expecting to see that can not be generated from the g code. As a work around, I got a known working Kuka file, and parsed up the header and other kuka specific items and had those as building blocks as static txt files available to my python to incorporate as needed. Kinda of like merging different custom bits together. The final file worked well.
