Thank you for the reply. I was afraid I would have to deal with IT again.
So even though the robot is on this private network, IT should be able to give me access to the internet. And they should be able to do this without changing the IP address of the robot on the private network. Correct?
IT said they would have to change the robot IP address to access the internet. So then the robot would not be able to communicate with the rest of the cell on the private network. Which just doesn't sound right. I also know this has been and can be done, however knowledge is king! I am not strong at networking so I am somewhat at the mercy of the IT department.
Thanks again for your input. Anything else you could add before I talk with IT again would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
I am trying to send an email from a robot on a private network. I have tried to use SMTP with settings I received from my IT department. However I get these errors. HOST 240 Email Send Failed, HOST 178 Router Address Not Defined, HOST 108 Internet Address Not Found, among others.
I assume this happens because this network is private and not connected to the internet.
A PC, 2 more robots and other peripheral equipment exist on this same private network. The computer is also connected to the internet via a separate network. The PC is used for the Vision system on the private network and remote cell access when troubleshooting or updating on the internet network.
How do I send an email from a robot on this private network to an outside recipient?
Thank you in advance for any assistance provided,
Maury
