Reading your post I think that what you want is to check if the robot is inside an area at program start, right?
I do this on all robots in order to make auto-homing programs, but I usually do it using space functions instead of the DCS zones...
If this sis the purpose, you can read the safe zone status by mapping the signals to rack 36, slot 6, then using that signals inside of your program.
But be aware that this signals extracted from rack 36 are not safety rated, this signals should only be used for not-safety reasons like knowing if robot is inside the zone and taking a decission that does not affect safety, like an auto-homing per example.
Edit: You may need to use a diferent "slot", 6 is for signals from the "Cartesian position check", 7 if por "Cartesian speed check", just search for the fanuc DCS operator manual, info about all slots is there.
