That was a huge step in the right direction! I just went out and checked 4 of our robots, including the two i tested on, and we have at least 3 different versions in the building. The one that UT1 worked on was 8.30P/20, and the one it did not work on was 8.30P/11. We also have at least one at 8.30P/15. We just tried and failed over the weekend to update a robot from 8.30P/11 to 8.30P/36 with an AutoUpdate procedure from Fanuc. I have not done the test on the 8.30P/15, but do you know exactly what version the UT1 was enabled?

All the V8.30 robots I've dealt with have had it but I think the oldest is V8.30P/21, I don't remember for sure. Did see a tech note that its been added to other version of V8, V8.10P/28 and later has it now for example. Just an FYI on the auto update, going above V8.30P/29 can take a long time, like several hours to do it. It also creates an issue with a welding robot because it enables AI4 (feed motor current on a Lincoln Welder, not sure about others). It turns it on but doesn't set it up and map it, you have to do that.

It sounds like you have successfully performed some Auto Updates before. After the first restart, is there supposed to be some indication that the update is still ongoing? I waited a while, but with no indication, it was hard to tell. I navigated to the Auto Update screen and it said that the update had failed. I took that to mean that it had failed and stopped, but it is possible that this meant i had broken it by messing with it.
I will post a separate thread about our specific issue.

No normally while its updating you can't navigate the menus. I've had a few fail but i can normally do it again and it works. I have had to re-download the auto-update again onto a different USB but its always worked one way or another.

Fanuc was able to replicate the Auto Update Failure, so i now feel confident it was not me touching it that messed it up! They also did an init start of the cloned robot and were then able to do the Auto Update. Current leading theory is that there is a file on the robot preventing the update. I am going to try a few things myself and see if i can figure it out from there. Good news is this means it DOES work on European robots!

UPDATE:
Updating software version did not enable the usage of TP USB for Password Key. Robot DOES have J957 (TP USB Port Option), but European Robots have a different Parameter related option than American robots (R650 for FRA Params on American, R651 for FRL Params on European), and this is currently the suspected cause of the issue. Ticket open with Fanuc, working on resolution.

UPDATE:
Issue resolved, mostly.
1. Fanuc says there was an issue corrected in V8.30P/39 onward. I upgraded a robot to V8.30P/40 and have not been able to use the Teach Pendant USB port for the Password Keys.
2. A note, it seems that in order to use the UT1 port, the flash drive must be formatted as FAT, not FAT32 (i am using 4GB flash drives). FAT32 will unlock via UD1, but not UT1.
3. Test was done on a European robot, so it seems to be a version issue.
4. Specific source of issue unknown, as the UT1 port worked on V8.30P/20, but not on V8.30P/11 or V8.30P/36
