I totally new to robots, please forgive me if this is a stupid question.
My field of expertise is vision and I've worked with Cognex cameras for many years. I need to integrate a Cognex camera and a fanuc R-J3iB and I'm having trouble finding out what protocol I can use. Cognex supports most standards fieldbus protocols. It seems I can get a DeviceNet card for the robot and with some effort and an Anybus bridge the Cognex camera can handle that, but before I go that route I'd like to be sure this is the best solution. I would have expected the robot to support at least Modbus or ModbusTCP, but I can't determine from our local agents or the internet if this is the case.
Does the R-J3iB provide any standard protocols via the ethernet or serial ports?
