airconditioners and automatic transmissions have been used in cars for long time. it does not mean that every car must have them, or that cars without them are useless.

just because something is supported, it does not mean that every possible feature is needed or implemented. support can be partial and - this is usually the case. that is why compatibility lists exist.

    I agree with you.

EtherCat is used for internal working of KRC4 (KCB,KSB,KEB) and the goal here was to get certain functionality - efficiently... so that one can run several real time things at the same time (safety, motion control,...). Then same driver was used to offer cheap way for users to add I/O to controller

Does it mean that an IIWA cannot be synchronized in an EtherCat Fieldbus that employs distributed clock for device synchronization?

Distributed clocks (DC) is a feature of Ethercat. Furthermore, Ethercat is supported by IIWA Sunrise Cabinet, which always works as a mastrer as far as I know. How is it possible that IIWA doesn't support DC?

    Hi guys,

Can someone tell me if IIWA Sunrise Workbench (workBench 1.8.1.7, and workvisual 6.0) as a master supports the distributed clocks mechanism of ethercat?

Can the bus coupler EK1100 (the first slave devices among other PLC devices to be synchronized) be defined as refence clock?

Where to configure / activate the distributed clock? on Workvisual?

    Thanks!

    Pat.
