I’m facing an issue with a KUKA SmartPAD (Article Number: 00-168-334, Serial Number: 027446) where the pendant doesn’t automatically launch the HMI/application after booting up. Instead, it just loads the Windows CE desktop.
To get it working, I have to manually go through:
My Device > NAND_Flash > install_application
After that, the application runs fine and the pendant operates normally. But upon restarting, the same behavior occurs again — it doesn't auto-launch.
Additional Info:
- The issue persists across multiple KRC4 controllers, regardless of the KSS version.
- I tested on KSS 8.6.8 HF2, which temporarily fixed this issue on one other SmartPAD with the same article number, but not on this particular one.
- I already have four other SmartPADs (same AN) working fine.
- KUKA support suggested sending the unit in for repair, but since this is clearly software-related, I was hoping to find a way to manually update or restore the auto-start behavior.
What I’m looking for:
- Is there a way to update or reinstall the SmartPAD software locally?
- Any known method to restore auto-start behavior on Windows CE for KUKA pendants?
- Would appreciate any script, tool, or recovery procedure that I can apply here without having to ship the pendant out.
