  • CIP Safety communication - Ownership/SNN has to be set after robot remastering

    This is normal behavior.

Robot mastering has a huge impact on safety, especially if it is done improperly. This is basically an acknowledgement that you have properly mastered your robot.

This also ties your safety signature in the PLC to the robot, so you can tell if something changed. It helps to make sure your safety sig means something to both your robot and your PLC.

This is the only robot I have that does this. All the others don't change SNN when it is remastered.

    Thanks

    Hello guys,

Curious if anyone has encountered this issue: Every time you remaster a robot, you need to go to the PLC and reset the ownership, as if configuring a new device.

    • PLC: ControlLogix 5561 (v20.18) using the "ETHERNET-SAFETYMODULE Generic" (v1.001)
    • Robot Controller: Fanuc R-30iB Mate

I went through the controller's manual to check for any settings that might cause this behavior but didn't find anything. Any ideas?

    Thank you

For DCS look at dcs manual, safe IO chapter. Rack 36 is dcs and that manual shows all slot numbers. For other IO see the sticky thread, under manuals, titled

Settings to make Fanuc programming easier (From all of us)

Where can I find that? I could not find it on the manual MAROCDCHK03101E

It was an issue related to the cycles with PLC and Fanuc

    Hello!

So that's about it. The program I'm trying to troubleshoot sets a value on a GI, then this GI triggers an alarm on the PLC, you work and clear this alarm on the PLC, and the conditions to change this GI again to 0 and not trigger the alarm are met. The problem now is that the robot is not running the line of the code that will clear the value of the GI because it is aborting the program.

PLC call for RSR1, which is the routine RSR0001

Fanuc runs this routine that only calls for main but aborts on line 0

To leave this situation you need to switch on and off from TP many times, press abort all many times, etc etc. Eventually, it will run "correctly". Any ideas?

edit: This is not happening all the time, you have to be lucky to see it hehe
