Hey Cody - Is this a unit that was running, but randomly stopped? Or a Unit that is currently being powered to put into service?
There are a few jumpers on the E-stop board that if missing - can cause this error and produce some headaches when troubleshooting.
You should contact Fanuc and get a copy of the operators manual for your series of robot -
Here are the Maximum speed values per axis in degrees per second for the ER-4iA.
J1 - 460°/s
J2 - 360°/s
J3 - 520°/s
J4 - 560°/s
J5 - 560°/s
J6 - 900°/s

For a school - It would make more sense to mount a flat panel on a wall, and run it to the PC inside of the KRC1
In order to allow dual monitors(KCP/Monitor) You have to enable a command in windows 95 - Display Properties.
