TCP/IP communication is a software option that needs to be installed.

You can contact service.robotics@comau.com for a quote of:
    CR17920415 Software "PDL2 Read/Write on TCP/IP"

If you purchase this option Comau will need to know your robot and controller serial number, so that this option can be added to a file called keyen.cod that will be sent you via email

Some basic programming examples are also available.

On a C5G instead the software option is:
    CR17926300 Software "PDL2 Read/Write on TCP/IP"

You can always verify options installed opening on TP:
    Service/System/Info

WinC4G and WinC5G are always found in system software disks. Their version will be aligned to system software installed on C4G or on C5G.

If, of course, you get a system software upgrade by other means than Comau (not recommended), you will need to contact service.robotics@comau.com so that a proper version of WinC4G or WinC5G will be issued.

    Don't worry, it's for free.

If you use WinC4G or WinC5G ports 20, 21, 1100 must be open on firewall. I checked this sniffing a WinC5G connection using Wireshark.

I can also add, in case somebody uses VPN or some hardware for remote connection that some VPN adapters don't allow too many TCP/IP connections to be open at the same time.

Sorry for a late reply, but I needed to address this request also for others.

Comau now offers RoboSim for free and RoboSim Pro with yearly subscription. A virtual robot and controllers are integrated as menu in WinC5G.

RoboSim will offer basic 3D simulation, and RoboSim Pro will offer a more complex simulation environment where 3D entities can be added up to a complete automated cell simulation.

Screenshot is not possible when using C5G with iTP (or C4G with WiTP). There's a very tricky possibility using TP screen remotation on PC, but it's only possible with Comau Robotics remote assistance, and the PC used needs to have Telnet installed. For all practical purposes we typically ask Customers to take a picture of TP screen.

I have news that Sintesi has gone out of business. If I find news that the Orchestra product has a future I will post them.

C4GOpen remains an actively supported product, as Orchestra was just one possible alternative in developing motion algorithms.

Thanks to C4GOpen, a Comau robot had the front cover on this book:

Dynamics and Robust Control of Robot-environment Interaction

It might be a nice read to learn how C4GOpen was used. Amazon will gracefull let you browse through a few pages out of the book.
