the one that was purchased says NPN. https://www.emicorp.com/item/PSK+100+D…-PSK100-Series/
before requesting to purchase a PNP version of the sensor, i am just wondering if there is a way to make NPN work. So far to no avail.

This is the sensor: PSK 100 D6N from COVAL
it is a vacuum switch, and its output is NPN.
Hello,
I have an end effector that is equipped with NPN sensors. How can I use the EE1 and EE2 ports to use NPN input?
Is it just the EE2 port that can work with NPN type (I see on the manual B-84194EN_04 page 53 default on R1-3 is 24V common, but switchable to 0V).
If so Can RI4 and RI5 also be switched to 0V common? Or is the number of NPN devices compatible with the EE 1 and EE 2 port up to 3 max?
If all fails with the EE ports, can the NPN sensors work with the IOs on the cabinet itself?
If anyone can provide step by step instructions on how to setup and receive signals from NPN sensors on the CRX, that would be greatly appreciated.
For future reference:
RO/RI (Robot Output/Robot Input) are the digital I/Os available through the EE-interface. There's not much you can to "wiring-wise" with these. Number of I/Os available are depending on the robot model, whether or not the robot has internal solenoids or not and if so how many.
DI/DO (Digital Output/Digital Input) are all other digital I/Os that can be connected to the robot controller. Either through terminals (hard wired) or through some sort of bus communication (such as Ethernet I/P, Profinet, EtherCat, Modbus, DeviceNet etc.)
Also, if acutating solenoids, you should maybe use a relay between your DO and the solenoid to avoid blowing fuses (use the DO only to actuate the relay, which then in turn supplies the solenoid with power).
Thanks for explaining, I was getting mixed up between RO and DO. I like the idea to use a relay.
Problem solved, solenoid is now firing when toggling the Digital Output on the TP.
Here is the steps:
How to wire:
*24V Power supply + to both DOSRC1 ports on JRM19
*24V Power supply - to both DICOM1 and DICO2 on CRMC24 (it is labeled on the board, hard to see)
*Solenoid GND to 0V on JRM19
*Solenoid +24V to DO03 (or any other DO0# on JRM19)
Toggling the DO:
Under digital I/O, toggle DO103 (or the output number you have connected to - it will NOT be DO03, it will be DO103. When if you have wired on the JRM19 board from DO01 to DO08, the digital outputs to toggle will be DO101-DO108).
If the above doesn't work first try, you may have to change the UOP auto assignment:
>Menu
>Next (0)
>System (6)
>Go to 44 UOP Auto assignment
>Switch to "None"
>Power cycle
Try to toggle your DO10# now.
Hi Ahammed,
I assume you want to use the EE connector? Or am I wrong?
The EE connector has its own internal power supply. Shown in the CRX mechanical unit operation manual
I want to use the ports in the control cabinet because I will be adding more solenoids (more than the number of I/O's offered on the EE connector).
hermann What i understood was to control my solenoid valve, I need to wire the valve to a RO on the JRM19 ports. If the ports on the JRM19 are DO, ok I will try to toggle DO.
If I require wiring the external powersupply, may you confrim if the wiring I have above is correct and if not may you advise?
Hello,
Sorry to repost (previous post was marked resolved but was not).
I’d like to use the RI/Os to control a 24VDC solenoid. I have a CRX10 and R30iB Mini plus cabinet.
I have the 24V wire from my solenoid to port D03 on the JRM19 and Solenoid Ground to 0V on JRM 19. Looks like I need to connect an external 24VDC power supply to the cabinet to power my device based on the manuals.
To connect the external power supply, should it be done as:
Power supply 24V – to both D0SRC1 ports on JRM19
Power supply GND – to both DICOM1 and DICOM2 on ports located below CRMC23 (I believe this would be CRMC24 but I don’t see it labeled on the board).
Then to toggle the D03 to turn on and off the solenoid, do I just toggle R03 under the RI/Os on the teach pendant?
Thanks in advance
