I just wanted to ask one question, I don't have experience in such type of application, but did you try or you see the possibility of following the bending element? To not let it go but to keep it by robotic all the time?
It's a best if you write more details about application and require to adjust the function. Here is an example of how a looks soft absorber in "two options":
1) tool aligning - it's just a simplified name for static force
2) main soft absorber - where robot adjusts the position to external force, in this case, clamp in machines, to not to force the machine.

There are a lot of types of HMI on the market, they just have to have Ethernet/IP communication, and it works quite nice. Also, It's possible to use PLC with an HMI screen to control robot program and send some parameters. Unfortunately, send all the information when you have only 960 signals it's not easy.
I'm working on some solutions with PLC with built-in HMI and communicate via Ethernet/IP - The PLC is Astraada ONE. In the future, you can try to use Ethernet/IP safety protocol in Cubic-S module. Here you can find a whole instruction manual in English on how to configure it: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…848574776381440
In your case it looks like the easiest option is to use a cubic-s output signal and connect to input in controller - and assign input to output (you can use only one channel in such an app)- thanks that you can see the status of input signal on Kawasaki controller.
