When you say "jog A6 until marks align" Do you mean like in the attached jpg?
I had to rotate A5 as far as it would go to get close to the slot.

I was "checking the manual" and thought if there is an $I_O_ACTCONF checkback signal that must mean the Robot needs to receive a $I_O_ACT from the higher level controller. Is it really such a stupid leap?

I made an assumption that that $I_O_ACT was only required for EXT mode. I see this is incorrect and it is required always for all modes T1/T2/AUTO and EXT. Thanks for the clarification.

The timing diagram indicates that after a delay the CELL.scr running causes the PGNO_REQ to go TRUE. I see now that PGNO_REQ comes from the P00 routine.
My issue was due to not acknowleding an alarm on the SmartPad (as you said "error free"). This alarm did not set STOPMESS TRUE so I didn't notice it until I was on the phone to KUKA oops.

Thank you for the clarification. Much appreciated. Oddly at some point I did see the HMI in the Topology thus leading me down the garden path. I shall put it down to a glitch in the Matrix.

my set up is as follows:
KUKA KRC-5 micro - 8.7.5 robot controller with Profinet Slave package.
Profinet Master is Siemens S71500 PLC.
From the Work Visual v6 screenshot below you can see in the "PROFINET - Device list and PROFINET names" tab showing a Touch screen, PLC and KRC5 controller.
Only the Robot shows up in the topology view. Any idea why?
