Hi there,
I have problem establishing communication between Kuka robot with KRC2 controller and SIEMENS S7-1200 plc via profinet. In KUKA i have installed siemens cp1616 card (article number A5E00320944). If someone has experience with it, it would be great.

In KUKA i have installed siemens cp1616 card (article number A5E00320944).
Did you install the KRC2 Profinet software option? Is this a Siemens CP1616, or the KUKA version?
-
Robot is used and i assume that it is installed previously, because it communicated with plc's before. It is Siemens CP1616 (its written on card). I dont know if it helps you.

That increases the confidence level, certainly.
Unfortunately, I never did ProfiNet on KRC2, so I have no specific knowledge. Typically, the Siemens communication options for KRC2s included a separate piece of Siemens software to perform certain configuration steps. This software is probably on the robot hard drive, under D:\KRC_OPT\PROFINET\ -- you may have to dig for it a bit.
The KUKA ProfiNet manual specific to the version your KRC has installed should also be located in that directory, so that would be the optimum place to start.

I only have these files in KUKA_OPT. Does this mean that i dont have PROFINET I/O option installed on my robot?
-
Not necessarily. It only means there is no copy of the Setup on drive D:- What is listed as installed options inside the KUKA Hmi?
-
This is on KUKA hmi, installed options TAB.
Also in IO configuration i cant see PNET driver.
-
Yes then you do not have it.
-
PNIODrv has to be installed using the KUKA Setup (CP1616 must belong to vxworks).
In addition to that also the drivers and some ini files will be installed. To check whether the PNIODrv is or was installed you may check the log directory for log files
(installed TP are also stored on c:\KRC_OPTION with TP name and REINST and UNINST sub directories)By just plugging the card in normally windows will grap the card.

A floppy disk with the contents shown in the image above came with the robot. MOM said that the PNIODrv is installed with the KUKA setup. Is the content shown in the image above the KUKA Setup? If not, how can I install the driver for Profinet? Does anyone have any experience with this?
And is there any other way to connect a Siemens S7-1200 PLC with a KUKA KRC2 robot, where the robot would be the controller and the PLC an I/O device, so that I can control the inputs/outputs on the PLC from the robot? -
The above is the setup to install absolute accuracy. Has nothing to do with PNIODrv. You need to buy PNIODrv from KUKA. But unfortunately KUKA no longer sells KRC2 related stuff. KRC2 is out of service for many years in part e.g. because it no longer fulfills current safety standards. So there is no way to get the package legally anymore.

No integrated I/O, but each KRC2 has a devicenet port on the MFC card. It has it limits , for example the KRC can only function as master, but it is still very useful. you can either connect a I/o module to it. Or in my case i have it connected to an Anybus gateway module to communicate with a PLC.
