To my knowledge... "Application" backup usually looks for extra directories created by installed software options (like PalletPRO, iRVision, or special process software like SpotTool, ArcTool, HandlingTool, etc.).... If your robot doesn't have these specific applications fully installed or the expected folders are missing, it throws that "Directory not found" message.

This is normal if you don't have an Application folder for you to back up. The AOA option cannot be completed because of the lack of Application Folders as well.

    Thanks for your help !

I am a new user on this robot and I heard that last year taking a AOA backup was successful. So it is likely that this folder has somehow been deleted and this is no longer possible.

Is it possible to fix this?

Find the ethernet configuration data and discover where the backups are being saved to from the robot and then go to that folder and verify that there is a folder by that name or make one with the correct name.

Can you save a backup to a disc or jump drive? When you process a backup, does it ask you where you want to save the backup? You could do this just to verify that it can actually do a AOA.

You could probably pull last years back up (if it's saved) and reload the application file if its gone... Assuming it is still needed and hasn't been toyed with.

I called the fanuc service guy and he thought that the folder is corrupted and the easiest way to fix it would be to restore it using the old AOA and image backups. I just think all the programs will be ruined after that, but thanks all for help !

Can you restore the old backup up and fix your problem and then restore just the newer programs you're concerned about? I think I can be selective in what I want restored from a backup.

Yes, you can. An image backup captures all contents on the robot controller at the time the backup was taken, and must be restored all at once. You can, however, load only specific files from a file/AOA backup.

When you insert your storage media into the robot controller and navigate to the directory where the backup files are stored, you can cursor over an individual TP program and press F3 [LOAD] to restore that one TP program back onto the controller. If you start the robot in Controlled Start, there is also an option to restore all TP programs in a directory at once, similar to the backup option for all TP programs.

The overall workflow for Konkari would look like this:

    1. Take AOA backup of the controller in its current state, with modified programs.
    2. Restore previous backup.
    3. Load TP programs from the backup that was just taken.

That should hopefully fix the corrupted files in the controller, while preserving the program changes made since the last backup.
