Specific IP addresses are predefined to be used for specific purposes and can't be used to connect via workvisual

Recently, we had an issue where our customer wanted to connect to KUKA via 192.168.0.xxx, and he couldn't even with 255.255.0.0 subnet and the controller being on 192.168.102.xxx. Unfortunately, he couldn't change his IP, so we had to change the reserved IP settings of KUKA (192.168.0.xxx).

In case anyone needs to do that, then please follow the below instructions that I got from KUKA (also do that at your risk and don't blame me if it doesn't work).

    ***********************************************************************************************************

To change the real-time communication settings, follow the below steps CORRECTLY. This is a little scary because we are momentarily disconnecting the real-time from Windows since that is shared memory and if not done correctly can cause the controller to stop functioning.

    1. Create a backup image of the system using the KUKA Recovery stick. (Just a good idea for this type of change.)
    2. Login as Expert or higher user.
    3. Goto Startup > Network Configuration, Internal Subnets.
    4. Change Shared memory network internal subnet from 192.168.0 to 192.168.100 (for example), Save, Close, DO NOT REBOOT.
    5. Startup > Minimize HMI
    6. Control Panel > Network Configuration, Shared Memory Network Properties. Change the IP address to 192.168.100.1. Change Gateway to 192.168.100.2. Apply changes. The HMI will now lose the connection to the real time system.
    7. Cycle Power on the controller.

This is the screen to change in step 4.

This is the change in step 6. Must change the IP Address and the Default Gateway.
