Hello I am working on a project in which I use a camera to develop part programs for the Panasonic Robot. Now we are trying to setup an automation, to run in the production.

This is what I am trying to achieved.

    1. Camera Software generates, .csr file programs.
    2. I need to automatically send these .csr program to the robot controller.
    3. I want to understand is there a way to automatically convert this .csr to .prg and send it to the controller or
    4. I need to automatically load the DTPS with this file, convert it and send it to the controller

We are planning on ether buying a ethernet IP package for this or either setup a PLC that can do this. Computer is a Windows machine

Please let me know how can this be achieved.

    Thank you

    Hi,

As far as I can tell, GII (and GIII) controllers doesn't accept .csr (ASCII) files. Just .prg (binary) files.

Só You need to convert the files before uploading them in the controller.

But if You want just to convert these files, you won't need the full DTPS install.

There is a smaller tool from Panasonic, called ASCII Binary Translator (Product Code is YA-1NPCH1), that maybe can be automated to do what you want.

I'm not sure if this is possible with DTPS. As far I can remember, its documentation was pretty simple and it didn't mentioned any API or CLI interface.

And this is why I suggested ASCII Binary Translator. It a simpler application than DTPS, and I believe that even in the absence of a CLI interface, it could be easily automated with something like Autohotkey.

Anyway, If You have the full DTPS license, you are entitled to ask Panasonic directly.

Thank for sharing. Yes I have already asked them about this text to binary convertor. I already have the full license. I am waiting for their reply.

I am also in touch of the panasonic and other panasonic integrators.

This is the reply I got.
    <Example:Execute a macro>

    DTPSCOMMAND /T:MAW /L:"C:\Dtps Data" /I:"Test Installation" /G:Default /O:Default /R:1 /P:test.rpg test.dcm

The above info allows you to run macro's, open programs, etc.

In macro language there is a command EXPORTPROGRAM that you can use to export a binary file. To convert the .csr to binary you'll run SAVEPROGRAM().

You'll have some figuring out to do, but this is the way to get it done as you request. Hope this info helps you forward.

Would you know anything about it.

I am not experienced with the Pansonic Macros , would you be able to help with building these macros or creating the texttobinary convertor?

Unfortunately, I don't think I can help You with this task in this moment.

It's been a few years since I last worked with a Panasonic robot, and I don't have access to DTPS anymore.

My advice is post your discoveries and tests here - like You did with your previous post - and keep this thread "hot", so more people can see it and maybe someone with the right knowledge can jump in and give the right directions to achieve what You want.

Do you know where I can request for more support. There is not much support in the US.
I have to wait for Panasonic US to reach out to Panasonic Japan that is very slow.

I'm not in the US, but in my country I believe this cycle is worst.

I don't know how it is nowadays, but some time ago we couldn't speak directly with Panasonic. We need to reach a representativa, that is their biggest and only integrator here, and who isn't interested in sharing any type of knowledge with its "competition".

This is one of them main reasons why I currently avoid to deal with Panasonic machinery.
