Could I replace older Ni-cd battery with Li-ion?

Hi all, I need to replace the battery in my Comau controller.

It has a 16.8v Ni-cd pack in at the moment, is there anything stopping me replacing it with similar Li-ion? They're easier to find and cheaper.

You're right, might not be worth the hassle. I've found some ni-cd packs on aliexpress, should do the trick.
