    Hi,

    I'm currently looking at a running robot installation to improve productivity.
    I've noticed that each time the paint booth door is opened the operator has to interact with the TP before he can restart. Not something I'm used to seeing and seems something that should be corrected.

    A double pole switch is wired into X1 of the safety connection board to Auto stop robot if door is opened.

    After this event the operator has to check and set if required DO's

    A1A2Sw

    A1Needle

    A2Needle

    A1Enable

    I can see these signals being set or pulsed at the top of mXX procedures

    example

    PROC mainM1()
    IF OpMode()=OP_AUTO THEN
    !
    SetTMSignal "A1Col2",1,0.5;
    SetTMSignal "A1A2SW",1,0.5;
    SetTMSignal "A1Enable",1,0.5;
    !
    endif
    !PPG Primer Program M1
    SetTMSignal "A1FluidDevNo",2,0;
    Set A1A2Sw;
    Set A1Enable;
    WaitTime 1;

    I'm not familiar with paint applications and cannot find any documentation regarding these signals, and why these need to be forced before the robot is started.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi, this will be a mission for you.

    The depth and knowledge, and the generosity of sharing it on this site is incredible, but there is very little experience in the paint sector.

    I am self taught on IRC5P and certainly no expert!!!

    It seems ABB developed IPS, Integrated Paint System, as a "bolt on" system/program/computer to IRC5 to control the paint specific tasks, the paint bell/spray gun needle valve, air pressures, turbine speeds, paint valves, electrostatic etc.
    There is very little info out there on this, unless you have worked in a big car factory perhaps.
    All Abb manuals are quite in depth but the IPS is very vague.

    I would point you the the last few chapters of the IRC5P Operators manual 3HNA008861-001. This explains the RAPID IPS specific commands which aren't listed in the main RAPID manual.

    Also IPS Structure Manual 3HNA013099-001, but its a hard complicated read!

    The main manuals for IRC5P are spread out using:

    IRC5P operators manual ---A008861
    IRC5P Product manual ---A009834
    IRC5P Unit Decsription ---A009628
    IPS Structure_A013099
    Paint Unit Descrition ---A012856

    I bought my IRC5P and IRB5500 secondhand out of a BMW factory.
    I had the original CD with the manuals on and there must have been over 40 manuals listed for various different things
