Profinet options board (AB3609-C) how to set IP!?

    Hello,

    I just inserted a AB3609-C board (Profinet) into the riser card CPU rack.

    I booted into maintenance mode, set the security level to maintenance, and found the board in OPTION BOARD menu and set it to "Used".

    I clicked through the setup with IO allocation, didn't change anything here.

    But how do I change the IP of it? It is my understanding that it has a seperate IP address than the robot controller, am I wrong here?


    How am I supposed to connect remotely using this card? Currently, I have an ethernet cable in the LAN port in the controller and into the wall, and I can connect from my PC on the domain network. Should I put that cable into the profinet port instead?


    I apologize if this is a stupid question, I am completely new to this.

    Alright I figured it out, and I'll post here in case someone needs it in the future.

    • First, take a picture of the mac address on the board.
    • Turn off controller (leave it for 5 minutes), then insert profinet card in one of the CPU slots. (Unscrew, pull out riser board, insert, push back)
    • Turn on controller in maintenance mode (hold down main menu)
    • Select Management mode {SYSTEM} > {SECURITY} > SELECT Management mode
    • Then go to Option Board {SYSTEM} > {SETUP} > {OPTION BOARD}
    • Select your board here and change the state from "Not used" to "Used". Then press enter through the setup, changing the IO for whatever you need.

    Now you're done here. Insert an ethernet cable in the profinet card to your pc/wall.


    Turn off the controller and turn it back on in regular mode

    Then when it has booted, go to your PC and download HMS Ipconfig

    When you scan with this tool, the card should show up, mine had IP 0.0.0.0, but I recognised the MAC address, so I just changed the IP in here, and I was able to ping it and it showed up in other software, too.
